The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! was the first comedy film in a series of several Naked Gun movies starring Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy, and O. J. Simpson. movie features the adventures of the bumbling police Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), a stereotypical police officer created by Nielsen and modeled after the television series Police Squad!.

The films featured fast-paced slapstick comedy, including a lot of visual and verbal puns and gags. A successful format of comedy that many other films have followed since this time. It is the type of movie that may often not make much sense but it will have you laughing senselessly.

Airplane! is a spoof of the airport disaster movies.
