The Admiral: roaring currents, Extreme Job, Along with the Gods: The two worlds, etc… are the Korean movies that attract audiences with good content and excellent actors/actresses. According to the Korean Film Council, up to now, this country has 18 movies reaching more than 10 million views. Below are the five highest-grossing Korean movies.

The Admiral: roaring currents is the pride of Koreans because it re-displays the country’s heroic history against the invaders. In this movie, all people, from young to old, are willing to sacrifice for their country. Once being released, it quickly broke all records to become the highest-grossing movie in Korean film history. In Korea alone, the film grossed up to $128.4 million and has more than 17.6 million views.
The movie is based on the true story of the legendary naval battle Myeong-Nyang. At the end of October 1597, when Japan hit Korea, Admiral Lee Soon Shin led only 12 ships to fight against 330 Japanese ships and became a legendary navy admiral in real life, on same level with Nelson. Thanks to his strong will and encouragement to the fighting soldiers, he commanded the Korean army to win a spectacular victory, blocking the path of the invaders.
2. Extreme Job: 16.47 million tickets

According to the Korean Film Council, Extreme Job reached up to 12,835,396 moviegoers on February 10, breaking a new record for the highest ticket sales achieved by any comedy film of Korea. The previous film that held the record was the 2013 film “Miracle in Cell No. 7,” which reached a total of 12,811,206 moviegoers during its run.
Extreme Job became Korea’s highest-grossing comedy film of all time in only 19 days. In addition, it has got a spot in the list of eight highest-grossing Korean box office hits of all genres in history.
The movie stars Honey Lee, Ryu Seung Ryong, Lee Dong Hwi, Gong Myung, and Jin Sun Kyu as a five-member squad of detectives that go undercover to bust an organized drug ring.
